Crab Balls-The Ultimate Crab Ball Recipe: Delicious and Easy to Make
1 lb. Crabmeat
1 Egg, beate
1 tsp. Spicey Mustard
2 tbsp. Fresh Lemon Juice
2 tbsp. Fresh Parsley, chopped
1 tsp. Old Bay Seasoning
1 tbsp. Worcestershire Sauce
4 TBS of Mayo
Place crabmeat in a mixing bowl, picking any stray shell fragments out. . I use a mixture of jumbo lump and special blue crab meat. In a small bowl, combine egg, spicy or dijon mustard, lemon juice, Old Bay Seasoning, parsley, and Worcestershire sauce. Whip with a whisk until smooth. Add crabmeat to sauce mixture and gently mix carefully making sure not to break up large lumps of crabmeat. Mold into golf ball sized round balls and place on a parchment paper lined cookie sheet. Bake @ 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until they are golden brown. Drizzle w/ melted butter and sit on a plate lined with paper towels. Serve along side lemon wedges, cocktail sauce, & tartar sauce.
There are many variations of the crab ball recipe. Some include adding Old Bay seasoning, while others include Cajun seasoning. Some recipes call for cream cheese, while others do not. The ingredients and measurements can be adjusted to personal preference. Want something a little spicier? Add some hot sauce to the sauce mixture above. You also can fry in an air fryer for a more deep fryer fried taste. Add red bell pepper, green bell peppers, green onions, and more parsley to your recipe to customize the taste you are looking for.
To make Old Bay crab balls, mix 1 tablespoon of Old Bay seasoning into the crab mixture. You can also get a pre-measured mix from Old Bay that is for crab cakes that also will taste great for great crab cake mini's. To make Cajun crab balls, mix 1 tablespoon of Cajun seasoning into the crab mixture. For a creamier texture, add 4 ounces of cream cheese to the mixture. If the mixture is too wet, add more bread crumbs until it reaches the desired consistency. For a spicier flavor, add cayenne pepper to taste.
